Today we interviewed Timmie Brann! A true Warrior Woman, mom of twins, business owner, and 3x Spartan Race Pro Team Member! An elite obstacle course racer that's not only bringing home the trophies, but racing to accomplish personal and professional goals! Timmie is the founder, owner, and head coach of Hybrid House Gym out of Signal Hill, CA. The community at Hybrid House prides themselves on just that! Being an inclusive, positive, transformative, and don't forget gritty community for all levels of athletes! On this Warrior Woman Wednesday we asked her some fun questions to get to know her better! 


If you were to be “in your Element” what would you be doing?

Being in my element is coaching. This is an easy answer for me. Coaching is like breath for me. It is simply who I am. 

How are you creating a healthy environment at home during this unstable time?

Everything in our house begins revolves around the core belief that you create everything. That manifestation is real. That life is truly at your fingertips. If you believe it will happen, simply put, it will happen. Therefore, the only choice for us, is to stay in the happy. The happy you don't question because of the way that it feels. YOU are in charge of your happy.

What are you top tips for building a strong immunity?

I believe in balance. To stay strong in immunity we must stay strong mentally. To stay strong mentally we must have balance. With everything. Absent of balance lives stress. Stress is the antithesis of a strong immunity. We must carry this mental balance into the physical. Being physically all in to one craft, way, belief is also harmful to having a strong immunity. We are truly meant to be hybrids, in every sense of the word.

What or who is your inspiration?

I am inspired by everyone around me. I choose my circle wisely, so if you are in it, you inspire me in one way or another. My lover. My children. My members. My friends. My peers. I choose to gain bits and pieces of inspiration from everyone that I surround myself with.

What are you doing in life or in business to be an inspiration and/or role model to others?

In life and in business I make the decisions that I feel are best without worrying about how favorable or unfavorable they may be. I make them based on my core beliefs rather than on how I want others to respond to them and/or me. On my vision board, that I am staring at as I sit at my computer, has a quote cut out that clearly resonated with me when I made it, "There's no way to do something that matters without risking people being ANGRY with you." If you are in the arena, everyone else is a spectator. They know nothing of what it is to be in the arena, so whose gut are you going to use to help drive your decision-making process. Yours, in the arena, or theirs, looking in.

                       

How has food/nutrition shaped your life?

Food and nutrition has been an integral part of my life by sticking in and believing in two main things, one will sound both familiar and repetitive - have balance and eat whole foods. What I mean is, have balance in your nutrition. If you feel deprived, you will obsess. If you obsess you are not serving the ultimate goal. To have balance is to say I want to eat this way because I feel good, have amazing energy, perform my best, my skin shines, etc etc etc, but on Wednesday I am going to share pizza with my kids. Eating good whole foods is how we are meant to eat. Think cavemen. Think other countries and cultures. We are not meant to process what we it. We are meant to pull it from the ground. It is such an easy concept if you really think about it. Perhaps tough if you think of it as a limiting factor and believe that it is all you can have. BUT if you add the balance, that's where the stick is, that's where the lifestyle comes to life.

What does “nourishing goodness” mean to you?

Nourishing goodness means taking in, spiritually, physically, mentally, the good and exhaling the bad. Again, these things are simple, but so many of us complicate them. Do what feels good to you and use that feeling as your compass. If it doesn't feel good, stop. It doesn't serve you. STOP! Do what serves you. Do what feels good. Eat what makes you feel alive not half dead on the couch. Life is to be lived!!

What do you do when you have a craving for something that might not fit into your parameters of a “healthy lifestyle” or “good nutrition?”

I HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every. Damn. Time. If you eat good whole foods, this is your way, you may get a craving here and there, so go with it!

What is your favorite Elemental Superfood Seedbar flavor?

BLUEBERRY CASHEW LEMON!!!!!!!!

What do you do for “me” time and how do you incorporate it into your busy life?

My "me" time is my training time. When I am working out it is all about me. It is my therapy. My release. My quiet time. My alone time.

Do you prefer an outdoor rustic vacation, or a more plush resort vacation? Can you describe it?

Here we go again. I am going to sound repetitive because AGAIN I have very few and simple core beliefs. I believe in BALANCE. I love camping, I love backpacking, I love a posh she resort...if choose to not limit my experience and my ability to make memories.

What would a perfect day look like to you?

Europe. A glass of wine. Belly laughter conversation. An amazing view. If I am being perfectly honest.

What inspired you to start your business? Or Why did you start it?

When I became a Coach in 2007 it was a strong pull. I followed my heart and soul and left a solid job to follow this pull, this feeling, this calling. After working for others, always finding my own way, always finding my own style, core beliefs, I knew one day I would do it on my own. I have always wanted to be on my own. Make my own decisions. Do things my way. Have those being coached be the voice. Listening to my own inner voice. Again, it was strong pull to go off on my own and open Hybrid House LLC. I wanted to do things my way. The way I felt in my heart would help so many who were being steered in the wrong direction over and over and over again. I wanted to create a safe space to be an athlete for the first time or again. All the weight loss photos, the sweaty selfies, the transformation stories that often had no stick. I needed to do something different, a different way, a different philosophy. Training to be confident. Overcoming the hard to feel more secure. Training to set standards and striving and working to meet them for the overwhelming sense of accomplishment that I knew existed on the other side. The transformation will come!!! Focus on what matters, what means something, what builds character and community. I just had to do something.

Demi Moore!

What is a “healthy lifestyle” to you?

Teehee - having balance. Forget the yoyo thing with relationships, nutrition, workouts, work - have balance and watch the ease of it all unfold.

How do you balance your personal life with your professional life?

When you love what you do, truly love it, you become a mean multitasker. My twins come to the gym with me all the time. The gym community is their community. My lover supports everything that I do and who I am and if she didn't, simply put, we wouldn't be together. I do the same for her. It is a true partnership. Gym events become family events. You get creative. We want to go on more hikes as a family, so more hiking events with the gym are created. At 41 we get picky about your circle and in this process things truly become easier.

                                                      

When you “treat yourself” what would we catch you doing?

Drinking wine, eating pizza, laughing with friends and staying up all night.

What is one thing you want to be remembered for?

Doing the things that scared me and that were unfavorable because I knew they were the right thing to do.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Candy! I love candy.

If you were to be on the cover of a magazine, which magazine would it be and why?

TIME. It represents life in the most authentic way. I am trying to not do the fake, the showy, the non-authentic. I am trying to pave a different path. One of authenticity, honesty, empowerment and diversity. I feel that TIME represents this.

What is your favorite recipe to make? Would you share it with us?

My lover does all of the cooking. You'd have to ask her

If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?

Make your own decisions. You have to remember that everyone has perspective, and this is based on their personal life experience. You must always trust your gut, it will never steer you wrong.
